Jakob Langston, Student Intern

Dallas Baptist University

Jakob Langston is a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Professional Counseling (MAPC) program at Dallas Baptist University and is currently completing his practicum training. He is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and families as they navigate life's challenges and discover their own strengths and resilience.

Jakob's journey into counseling was shaped by several years of hands-on experience working in a Residential Treatment Center, where he provided direct care and support to children and teens ages 5–18 in foster care. Walking alongside young people who had experienced trauma, loss, and instability gave him a deep appreciation for the healing power of safe relationships, consistency, and compassionate support. These experiences continue to inform his trauma-informed approach to counseling today.

Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, Jakob works collaboratively with clients to identify practical tools, build on existing strengths, and create meaningful change. He has a special interest in helping children, adolescents, and young adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, negative self-talk, behavioral concerns, and the effects of trauma. He believes that every person deserves to feel heard, understood, and empowered, and that lasting growth begins within a trusting therapeutic relationship.

As a husband and new father, Jakob understands the importance of connection, support, and healthy relationships. He is committed to creating a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where clients and families feel safe exploring challenges, developing new skills, and moving toward hope and healing.
