Play Therapy

Play therapy is rooted in the idea that play is a child’s natural language and a primary way for them to express their inner world and emotions. We create a safe, predictable, and supportive environment where children can freely engage in play activities such as using toys, art materials, or structured games. Our trained play therapists are skilled at closely observing and thoughtfully interpreting a child’s play behaviors to better understand their needs, build trust, and facilitate emotional healing and growth.

Play therapy helps children express feelings, explore problems, learn coping skills and build self-esteem through developmentally appropriate play. At Living Hope Counseling, we use play therapy to help with:

  • Separation anxiety or difficulty adjusting to transitions

  • Aggression and behavioural issues

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress

  • Grief and loss

  • Social skills and peer problems

  • Anxiety and worry

  • Language, developmental or learning delays

  • Low self-esteem and identity issues

  • Parent–child relationship difficulties
